Marketing Schmarketing: How Chelsea got to where she is today

When it comes to life and our careers, they say that it’s about the journey rather than the destination. And if my chat with the ever delightful Chelsea of Marketing Schmarketing is anything to go by, I think this ol’ nugget of wisdom is spot on.

In our previous video we talked inspo behind business names and trusting your gut (a must for all humans big and small). Now, drum roll... it’s onto her digi-marketing origin story! Chelsea talks about getting started through a Bachelor of Communications degree that gave her some exposure to PR and Advertising (with a bit of fun along the way) opening her up to the possibilities and launching her to each different step in her career.

Another theme in her story? Navigating the ever changing marketing industry through learning on the job. And, whilst we’re at it, the importance and freedom of changing your mind MANY times, trying on different roles and career hats to find your perfect fit. Because as Chelsea explains so well, your journey won’t always feel clear and predictable. There might be twists and turns, side streets for that all important character development, and some major “We’re not in Kansas anymore Toto” moments.

Then, one day, the penny will drop, the clouds will disappear and you will have found your thing. Maybe by accident. Maybe by a fully manifested plan via your rainbow bullet journal.

Whatever the case, it will be a story that is unique to you. Click the video above to learn about Chelsea’s and, whilst you’re in the neighbourhood, why not stay a while and catch my chats with Emily of Digitally Pedalling here and Keshena of Social Confetti Co here? They are literal sunbeams of creativity and are perfect for any social media peeps wanting some freelancer/ business owner/ marketer inspo.

There are some more awesome videos to come of my chat with Chelsea so stay tuned and follow Grevillea Marketing on Instagram to keep up with the latest news and content!
